Lighting keys – makes playing fun from the very first time!

Just play the lighted keys and get beautiful music—naturally and effortlessly. It's easy to get hooked and have fun practicing and playing. And if you want to improve more, practice at your own pace with the three Lesson functions. Work on the right and left-hand parts separately, and even break the song up into separate sections for repeated practice. The lighting keys guide you throughout, helping you enjoy playing—even if you can't read music.

The EZ-300 features a total of 622 built-in instrument sounds (called Voices). Included with these are special "Live" Voices, which feature actual recorded samples from a grand piano, strings and brass. Just with this single keyboard you can play a huge variety of authentic musical instruments and perform with an amazingly full sound. In addition, there's a Touch Response function that lets you expressively control the loudness by how strongly or softly you play the keys—helping you become familiar with the music as you express yourself, while having fun with the Auto Accompaniment functions and various effects.

Lighting Keyboard (Light Guide function)

With the Lesson features, the keys light to show you which notes you should play, making it exceptionally easy to play songs, even if you don't know how to read music.

Three Lesson types

Listening
The song by listening to it initially by ear. When Light Guide is on, you can see which notes are playing by watching the lighting keys which sound as they light.

Timing
Here, the keys light to show you which keys to press and when to do it. If your timing is right, the correct sound will sound no matter which key you play, letting you simply concentrate on the timing and enjoy the performance.

Waiting
The song pauses and waits to play until you press the lit keys correctly. Playback tempo also changes automatically according to the pace of your performance, so you can concentrate on playing the correct keys at your own pace.

202 built-in Songs, including 10 pop songs, plus add-on song capability

The EZ-300 features a total of 202 Songs, within 9 different categories: Pop*, Favorite, Instrument Master, Piano Repertoire, Learn to Play, Favorite with Style, Japanese Song, Duet, and Piano Solo. In addition, the EZ-300 also features instruction categories, including Touch Tutor which lets you refine your playing strength; Chord Study which lets you learn individual chords; and Chord Progression which lets you learn different chord progressions. You can also use your computer to transfer MIDI songs you have, and play along with them using the Lesson and Guide Light features.

The EZ-300 features the latest tone generator LSI from Yamaha, delivering the finest sound quality ever offered in an instrument of this type. Enjoy 622 stunning Voices including guitar, bass, strings, sax, trumpet, drums and percussion, as well as piano, organ, and other classic keyboard instruments, which together comprise a comprehensive library of musical sounds. You can even layer two different Voices across the entire keyboard as a Dual Voice to enrich your performances even more!

Super Articulation Lite Voices

Super Articulation Lite is a feature that reproduces the sounds of playing methods that are unique to specific acoustic instruments which were previously difficult to emulate. As an example, if you select a guitar Voice, you can realistically reproduce sounds such as scratching noises on electric guitar and the harmonics of nylon guitar strings.

Touch-sensitive keys for expressive dynamic control

Enjoy playing a touch-sensitive keyboard that accurately reflects every nuance of your playing, making your performances more musically expressive. Play strongly for a louder sound and softly for a quieter sound—and have true dynamic control of your music.

Apply effects to your playing

The EZ-300 features a built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) that gives you a wide variety of effects for enhancing the sound and making your performance even more dynamic. Moreover, when you select certain Voices (with recommended DSP settings), the DSP effect is automatically applied to the main Voice element.

Use the Style function for real-time backing tracks

The EZ-300 features an auto accompaniment function that automatically plays appropriate backing (rhythm + bass + chord accompaniment), which you can control simply by playing root notes or chords with your left hand.

Smart Chord

Choose from two ways to play chords: "Smart Chord," which lets you play chords with just one finger, or "Multi," which lets you play chords normally, with all the correct notes. Smart Chord allows you to play chords using simple techniques that help your performance automatically sound great.

Arpeggio function
This powerful feature lets you create automatic rhythmic note phrases that change to match the chords you play. For example, you could play a chord, and the Arpeggio function will automatically create a variety of interesting, dynamic phrases using the notes of that chord. It's a quick way to get professional sounding backing for your performance.

Lesson function: "Keys to Success"

"Keys to Success" is based on teaching techniques shared with Yamaha over many years. You can select just the key phrases of the Song—the ones you like most or need to work on—and practice them one by one. This lesson is ideal for new players learning the instrument. Each Song consists of several steps.

Each time you play all the way through the current step, your performance will be evaluated.

The Song Book includes the musical scores of the built-in Songs, and also provides tips for the on-board lessons with images, glossary and more. You can use the Song Book together with the "Keys to Success" lesson function, or as a chord chart when playing with the Smart Chord function.

Play with a partner

When you turn on the Duo mode, the EZ-300 effectively becomes two keyboards in one, letting two players play the same piano sound and range side-by-side. This is especially useful when learning with a partner, letting you learn and practice parts together!

Clear LCD screen

The LCD is intuitive and easy-to read, and even has a velocity meter that lets you instantly see how strongly or softly you are playing the keyboard.

Connect a smart device

Digitally enhance the way you practice, record and perform music! Connect a smart device to the instrument to take advantage of a range of fun functions such as the "Rec'n'Share" app, which allows you to record audio and video along with songs from your music library and then share your performances with the world.

The built-in Metronome function

The built-in Metronome function can be easily set by panel operation and lets you freely change the volume. Refine your sense of rhythm and make your playing accurate by listening to the precise tempo.
