Korg Announce their New Operating System v3.0 Coming Late February 2019
Send your KORG Pa4X to the NEXT level!
KORG is pleased to announce Pa4X OS NEXT, the new Operating System for the Pa4X Professional Arranger.
Pa4X OS NEXT is a fresh new approach for our award-winning flagship arranger, the Pa4X featuring a renewed, luscious, dark and glimmering display and new technological advances driving powerful features to deliver beautiful contemporary musical materials in our award-winning flagship arranger.
This is more than a simple update, this feels like an all-new Pa series arranger as OS next raises the bar for what a professional arranger can do. This is because we talk a fresh approach to considering how to deliver the most powerful arranger possible to musicians around the world.
As usual, Korg offers this operating system update at no charge for all existing users. Since the beginning of our Pa-Series adventure we have always tried to provide great new features via system updates (while some other companies deliver updates in a different keyboard). A KORG Professional Arranger is designed to keep growing, increasing its value through the years.
In addition to increasing performance through free software updates, Korg arranger keyboards preserve their value by reading sound and style data from our older models. When you think it is time to switch to your next arranger, do it together with all your sounds, songs and styles.
With KORG Professional Arrangers, technology is at the service of the music! Pa4X OS NEXT will be available late February 2019.
Here’s what's new in this free Pa4X OS NEXT system update.
New Dark-Glimmering GUI (Graphical User Interface)
KORG Professional Arrangers were the first to feature a touch-screen display, making interaction between keyboard and performer much easier and more natural. Since then, musicians worldwide have come to appreciate the power and user friendliness of a touchscreen display. Pa4X OS NEXT takes this to a new level becoming even more attractive and easy to use. There is no need to learn a totally new way of working, instead you can enjoy our advanced GUI.
With Pa4X OS NEXT we continue to offer the same arrangement of the GUI’s elements, letting you find them where you expect, while using color contrast so the most relevant components come to the foreground, while the static elements sit back unobtrusively. Color coding is more evident than ever, helping you navigate the power of the Pa4X OS NEXT in a world full of colours.
Direct reading of User Samples from disk
The User Sample memory is now more than three times larger! You can now load 1.5 GB of User Samples, which becomes 3 GB when using our fast compression algorithm.
Easily Copy Keyboard Sets
You can now copy Keyboard Sets between Styles and SongBook Entries to easily shift programming to other songs and styles.
Improved mono solo instruments
The Mono Legato and Portamento Time parameters have been revised to make monophonic solo instruments more realistic when playing legato. By finely adjusting the timing and stretching when connecting notes, the sound will now play smoothly making it more inviting for the performer and audience. There are a few new sounds showcasing this new feature.
Improved Drawbars
Drawbars organs are so important to many musical styles and the Drawbars page has been revised to feel more like the classic organ console. And the Drawbar sound has also been refined to be even better!
Consolidated Record dialog
When pressing Record, you can now choose what you want to record - independently from the current Operating Mode. Record styles, songs, pads, or access the song’s Quick Record or the style's Creator Bot, as well as recording everything to an MP3 file: you can now quickly and easily choose what you want to record.
Improved Quick Record
Quick Record is the fast way to create your own songs with the accompaniment of our styles. This is now more straightforward making it the same as the main page using just a few record indicators in the mix. No
Get wired!
It is now very easy to connect small keyboards, mixing surfaces, percussive pads – the full catalogue of our KORG nano series of controllers! Just connect them to the USB HOST port, choose the dedicated MIDI Preset, and you are ready to go with a pad controller, second keyboard or remote control of the sound
General improvements
While we were there, we also added the ability to select more Song Book entries at once, lock the selected Keyboard Sets, remotely control the Synchro Start/Stop function via MIDI and of course tightened and smoothed out the whole performance system.

Korg PA4X New Operating System v2.0 Out Now
Pa4X Operating System v2.0
Pa4X Operating System v2.0 introduces new exciting features, improves the existing functions, and streamlines the user interface. In addition, new Sounds and Styles are introduced. This new OS version makes the instrument easier to play, and much more versatile.
New Styles, Sounds, and Drum kits
New Styles, including many in the Pop, Ballad and Dance genres. Most existing Styles have been revised and improved. The new Styles are very modern sounding. The Dance Styles are particularly suited to the new KAOSS FX.
New Sounds and Drum Kits, most based on new sampling sessions, including a very expressive Italian Grand Piano, several majestic Church Organs, very realistic Saxophones, Accordions and Bandoneon, and new Synth Leads and Pads. And you now get one more User Drum Kit bank, with 128 additional locations (for a total of 256).
Style editing is now easier, with an improved test mode and the Mixer/FX editing pages also available inside the Style Record mode. You can now edit a Style without having to jump between the Style Play and Record modes. You also get an overview of the recorded chord variations in the Chord Variation page.
KAOSS FX
Totally unseen before, the KAOSS FX gives you creative control on your performance. From subtle morphing between Variations and Drum Kit types, fine mixing between accompaniment Sounds, live reshaping of ongoing rhythms, to the most radical note-crunching effects of DJ heritage, to tape delay and arpeggios, you can add ‘liquid mixing’ to any Style or MIDI Song with the aid of easy-to-use computer-assisted composition features. Break the boundaries of preset music!
The KAOSS FX are also available when recording a MIDI or MP3 Song, so that your performance will be preserved.
Style Creator Bot, Chord function , Chords Sequencer
The Style Creator Bot (formerly known as the MIDI Song to Style Converter) now automatically creates a Style from a MIDI Song, while also creating a Chord Sequence from the Song’s chords.
The Detect Chord function scans the MIDI Song’s tracks for chords, then saves them as Chords events to be read in the Lyrics or Score page. This is especially useful to add chord abbreviations to Songs that do not have them, or to realign the chord abbreviations after transposing a Song.
Chord Sequencer playback and recording has been improved. It is now much easier using it, and a small symbol now shows if a sequence is currently available.
Keyboard Sets, Updated User and Direct Banks
The Split Point can now be saved with each Keyboard Set. This means a different Split Point for each of the Keyboard Sets recalled with a Style or SongBook Entry, allowing for a finer adjustment of the instrument’s natural range.
User and Direct banks can now be renamed, to allow for a more personalized set of custom Styles, Pads and Keyboard Sets. Custom names appear in the Selection windows, and make finding items much faster.
MIDI Connection
MIDI connection can now also be done through the USB HOST ports (in addition to the USB DEVICE and the MIDI ports). This allows for easy connection of controllers like digital pianos (for example, our HAVIAN 30), or the KORG nano and micro series, with no need of special adapters.
Song Book
The SongBook has been made more intuitive and customizable. Styles or Songs can be replaced from existing SongBook Entries, in order to edit existing Entries, or use them as templates for new Entries.
You can also read songs from an external, Direct SongBook, that will extend your internal database on the fly.
Here is the Operating System version 2.0 for the Pa4X.
Important Note on updating your Pa4X
Depending on the production lot of your keyboard, the Pa4X accepts the update package with one of these two extensions: “PKG” or “UPD”.
To know which type of package your Pa4X requires turn it on while pressing and holding INTRO 1. Yamaha Announce their New CLP600 Series
Be the first to read about the CLP600 here at Keysound.
Introducing GrandTouch and ebony keytops
The newly developed GrandTouch keys offer more responsive touch and a greater dynamic range than ever before. The pianist can experience a natural, balanced response from the tip to the very back of each key. The black keys on all keyboards of the new CLP-600 series are finished in ebony. Synthetic ivory key tops reproduce the tactile surface of the real ivory keyboards that were once used in older acoustic pianos. It features highly absorbent material that prevents fingers from slipping even after hours of practice, while retain-ing the ideal texture and feel.
Real grand piano tone
Two world-renowned concert grand pianos in one. The powerful tone of the flagship Yamaha concert grand, the CFX, and the unmistakable sound of a Bösendorfer Imperial are available at the touch of a button. In the CLP-685 you will also find the Yamaha C7 Studio Grand. In additional to this, all models from the CLP-635 upwards include an Upright Piano voice.
Piano Room
Physical modeling techniques provide authentic reproductions of internal grand piano reverberations and offer rich, endlessly varying expressive capabilities. VRM reproduces the resonance characteristics of the strings for every note on the grand piano keyboard in nuanced detail.
Enhanced Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) for rich and bright sound
In a grand piano, sound resonates throughout the body of the instrument, producing a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. These phenomena are reproduced perfectly in the Clavinova through Yamaha Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) technology. The piano body resonates just like an acoustic piano. The acoustic system of the Clavinova reproduces the sensation of the entire piano vibrating, just like the feeling of playing an acoustic piano.
Even headphones produce a larger than life experience.
Thanks to advanced binaural sampling technology, you can enjoy the highly realistic sensation of playing a concert grand piano even when you are using headphones. For the first time Yamaha’s advanced binaural sampling technology is now available on the Clavinova. The technology uses samples from the CFX recorded with specialized microphones that capture locational information and other nuances discerned by the human ear. The resulting sound is so natural, so enveloping, that you’ll soon forget you’re even wearing headphones at all.
Built-in Bluetooth audio
You can play along with music from your favorite music apps via the Clavinova’s built-in Bluetooth interface.
